Love Chains

The love chains
Wrapped around your body
Are fastened
With padlocks of gold

The holly trees:
How strange to be your folly
How strange that you are only
So warm
And yet it’s so cold

        And they’re watching
        Yes, they’re watching
        O, they’re watching
        Pillar-box watching

You damsel
In ivory tow’r;
Someone handsome
Who can live by t’ hour

A knight who
Clad in armour of old
Can take you back to
The stories untold

        And they’re watching
        Yes, they’re watching
        O, they’re watching
        Pillar-box watching

You are the one
Heading into the sun
Light makes you blind
To all. You can’t see

That you are chained...
Don’t you know you are chained
Easily
With love chains.

        And they’re watching
        Yes, they’re watching
        O, they’re watching
        Pillar-box watching
